MUMBAI | The Nehru Science Centre (National Council of Science Museums, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India), in collaboration with the All Mumbai Malayali Association (AMMA)—widely renowned for their iconic floral carpets (Pookalam) at CSMT—proudly announces the 7th edition of the ‘Marathi-Malayali Ethnic Fest 2026’. The festival is scheduled to take place from February 20 to 22, 2026, at the Nehru Science Centre, Worli.

Operating under the theme "Where Science Meets Tradition," this landmark event aims to bridge the rich heritage of the Sahyadris and the Western Ghats, fostering national integration through a seamless blend of cultural expression and scientific temper.

Educational Outreach & Student Competitions

A key highlight of this year’s festival is its robust focus on student engagement. Over 2,000 schools have been officially invited via circulars issued by the Nehru Science Centre to participate in various competitions, including Drawing, Patriotic Songs, Quizzes, and Folk Dances.

To encourage excellence, winning schools will be awarded prestigious trophies, while individual students will receive medals and certificates. Additionally, all participants will receive complimentary access to the Science Centre galleries, blending education with entertainment.

Official Statements

Speaking on the collaboration, the Director of Nehru Science Centre stated:

"Science and culture are not separate entities; they evolve together. Through this festival, we are opening our doors to thousands of students to explore the scientific principles behind our traditions. It is a unique platform where the next generation can appreciate their heritage while embracing a scientific temper."
