Thiruvananthapuram | Senior CPI(M) leader E P Jayarajan on Thursday said he does not think that the SIT action against former TDB president P S Prasanth was politically motivated.

Responding to reporters' queries regarding the Special Investigation Team (SIT) taking Prasanth into custody in connection with the Sabarimala gold loss case, Jayarajan said, "Let things take the legal course." He further said that the previous LDF government did not hide anything in connection with the matter and had made its stand clear on the issue.

At the same time, he said that such things should not be seen from a political angle.

He also said that the Left front was not against any free and fair investigation.

"Let everything come out," he added.

Former Devaswom Minister V N Vasavan, during whose term Prasanth was the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) president, said let the investigation continue.

He also said that he was not aware of any irregularities by Prasanth back when he was the TDB president.

The SIT is probing two cases relating to the alleged loss of gold from the Dwarapalaka (guardian deity) idols and the doorframes of the Sreekovil (sanctum sanctorum) of the Sabarimala temple after they were taken for electroplating in 2019.

The SIT recently informed the Kerala High Court that it is also probing a similar electroplating exercise carried out in 2025, when Prasanth was the TDB president.

Prasanth headed the board from 2023 to 2025.

In a recent report filed before the Kerala High Court, the SIT said the probe into the alleged pilfering of gold during the September 2025 electroplating exercise has also been clubbed with the Dwarapalaka idol case.
