Bengaluru | Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Friday invited Poland to participate as a country partner in the state's Global Investors Meet 2027, while welcoming a proposed investment of Rs 80 crore by Poland's TZMO Group that could generate around 1,000 jobs in Karnataka.

Earlier, Shivakumar met and felicitated Poland Prime Minister Donald Tusk here.

"It is a pleasure to welcome Poland PM Donald Tusk, and the distinguished Polish delegation to Bengaluru, Karnataka's global hub for technology, innovation and entrepreneurship," Shivakumar said.

According to a CMO release, Tusk and Shivakumar met on the sidelines of the India-Poland Business Forum and discussed issues related to investment, business and technology opportunities.

Inviting Poland to partner with Karnataka at the Global Investors Meet 2027, Shivakumar said the state was keen to deepen bilateral cooperation in investment, technology, innovation and employment, building on Bengaluru's technology ecosystem and Poland's expertise in advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence and green energy, it said.

He welcomed the TZMO Group's proposed investment of approximately Rs 80 crore in the KIADB Vemgal Industrial Area in Kolar district, spread across five acres. The project has the potential to generate around 1,000 jobs and introduce the manufacture of smart adult incontinence pads in India for the first time, the release said.

"Karnataka has considerable scope for further Polish investment, particularly in medical products, healthcare and advanced manufacturing," the CM said, adding that the state was keen to attract investments that bring new technologies, strengthen local industries, create quality employment and support exports.

Tusk emphasised Karnataka becoming a gateway for investments between Poland and India.

He indicated interest in aerospace, defence and advanced manufacturing and said that Karnataka and Poland can collaborate on these specific sectors for increased investments.

He highlighted that Poland has a relatively younger workforce like Karnataka and collaboration between the southern state and Poland would be mutually beneficial.

Shivakumar identified the existing cooperation between Karnataka and Poland, while he referred to the Letter of Intent signed with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Katowice and Kato hub to promote collaboration in artificial intelligence, gaming and deep-tech innovation, including the proposed Karnataka-Katowice Digital and Gaming Corridor.

According to the release, the initiative is expected to create opportunities for startups, technology companies and research institutions from both sides to collaborate, develop new technologies and expand into each other's markets.

Shivakumar also encouraged Polish technology companies to explore Bengaluru's opportunities in artificial intelligence, software, gaming, robotics, smart manufacturing and startup innovation.

He called for stronger partnerships in research, education and technology transfer to generate skilled employment.

Pointing to the potential for deeper business ties, the chief minister cited Infosys's nearly 20-year presence in Poland as an example of the opportunities for greater India-Poland technology cooperation.

He said Karnataka would work to facilitate Polish investments in Bengaluru while supporting companies from the state in exploring opportunities in Poland.

The CM identified renewable energy, waste-to-energy, sludge management, wastewater treatment and circular economy solutions as promising areas for cooperation, drawing on Polish expertise to advance Karnataka's environmental priorities and sustainable industrial development.

He also invited Polish companies, including Asseco and Polpharma, to explore partnerships in information technology, software services, pharmaceuticals and research and development. Companies such as ORLEN and KGHM Polska MiedAº were encouraged to consider investment and technology collaboration in Karnataka's energy, petrochemical and advanced manufacturing sectors.

Shivakumar emphasised that investment opportunities extended beyond Bengaluru and urged Polish companies to explore Karnataka's districts and take advantage of the state's industrial ecosystem.

The CM said Poland's Honorary Consulate in Bengaluru could play an important role in strengthening business and institutional ties and facilitating closer engagement between Polish enterprises and Karnataka's industries.

The meeting builds on previous engagements, including discussions in Warsaw last year between representatives from Karnataka and Poland, it said.

Shivakumar expressed hope that the Poland PM's visit would lead to a focused set of investment proposals that could be pursued by officials and business representatives from both sides after the delegation's visit, it added.

Tusk arrived in Bengaluru on Thursday night along with his delegation from New Delhi after holding talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on wide-ranging issues.

This is Tusk's second visit to India in his capacity as Poland's Prime Minister. The first was during his earlier tenure in 2010.
