Bhubaneswar: Saanvi and Anvi Deshwal, the talented twin sisters from Maharashtra, emerged as the stars of the 40th Sub-Junior & 50th Junior National Aquatic Championships 2024, recently held in Bhubaneswar. Organized by the Swimming Federation of India, the event showcased over 1,000 swimmers from across the nation, highlighting India's rich talent in aquatic sports.
Maharashtra, powered by the stellar performances of the Deshwal twins, secured the Championship title in the Girls Group II category. Saanvi and Anvi collectively bagged 4 Gold and 4 Silver medals, underlining their dominance in the pool.
Saanvi Deshwal, a rising star in Indian swimming, delivered a series of breathtaking performances that left spectators in awe. On the opening day, she shattered the meet record in the 50-meter breaststroke, clocking in at 34.32 seconds and surpassing the previous record of 34.69 seconds set in 2022.
The championship concluded with Saanvi setting another Junior National Record in the 100-meter breaststroke, finishing in 1:15.30 seconds, breaking the 2018 record. Her remarkable achievements have firmly established her as a formidable presence in Indian swimming.
Training at the Otters Club in Mumbai under the guidance of coach Nihar Amin through the Dolphin program, the Deshwal sisters have demonstrated exceptional dedication and promise. Their success is a testament to the effectiveness of their training and the unwavering support of their coaches.
