New Delhi | The BCCI on Monday announced a cash award of Rs 51 crore for the Harmanpreet Kaur-led squad and its support staff for winning the country's maiden ICC World Cup title.

The Indian women's team under Harmanpreet's leadership beat South Africa by 52 runs in the final on Sunday to win its first ever global trophy.

"As a token of appreciation, the BCCI will reward the Indian women's cricket team with a cash award of Rs 51 crore for winning the World Cup. It includes all the players, support staff and the national selection committee," Saikia told PTI.

To honour this unprecedented success, the BCCI has announced a cash reward of Rs 51 crore for the players, support staff and selection committee, in recognition of their remarkable performance, dedication and contribution to the nation's sporting glory, the Board later said in a statement.

The BCCI also highlighted the "pivotal role" of Jay Shah, who served as the Board secretary and now holds the position of chairman of the ICC, towards women's cricket in India.

During his tenure at the BCCI, Shah championed significant initiatives for women's cricket accelerating the expansion of domestic structures, launching elite-level competitions and ensuring improved infrastructure, the Board said in the statement.

Under his leadership, the ICC announced a landmark increase in prize-money for the Women's World Cup, signalling that women cricketers will be treated on par with their male peers.

Lucknow | Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Krishna on Monday lauded Deputy Superintendent of Police and international cricketer Deepti Sharma for her "exemplary and historic performance" in India's win at the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 final held in Navi Mumbai.

Sharma, who hails from Agra, was appointed as a DSP under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's 'Kushal Khiladi Yojana' through the sports quota in January this year, officials said.

She played a pivotal role in India's 52-run victory over South Africa in the final at DY Patil Stadium on November 2.

Describing her feat as a matter of immense pride for the Uttar Pradesh Police, the state government, and the nation, DGP Rajeev Krishna extended his congratulations and best wishes to Sharma, calling her sportsmanship, discipline, and performance "a source of inspiration for countless aspiring athletes", an official statement said.

In a post on X, DGP Krishna said, "UP Police pride shines on the world stage".

"With a stellar all-round performance of 215 runs and 22 wickets in the international cricket tournament, she not only became the Player of the Tournament but also brought immense pride to the nation, Uttar Pradesh, and UP Police on the international stage," he added.

The DGP further congratulated and extended his best wishes to Sharma in the post.

Showcasing her all-round brilliance, Deepti scored a vital 58 runs to help India post a formidable 298/7, and later dismantled South Africa's batting lineup by taking five wickets, including that of captain Laura Wolvaardt.

Recognising her stellar contribution throughout the tournament, Sharma was named the Player of the Tournament.
