Thiruvananthapuram | BJP president Nitin Nabin on Tuesday attacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of “always appeasing a particular community” for personal benefit.
Speaking after releasing the party’s manifesto ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled for April 9, Nabin hit out at Rahul, a day after the Congress leader accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “remaining silent” on the Sabarimala gold loss issue during his visit to Palakkad on Sunday.
Nabin said the people of Kerala were aware of Rahul’s “true colours”.
“The people of Kerala know about your appeasement politics and that you favour a specific community. For your own benefit, you have always appeased another community,” he said.
He further alleged that Rahul was raising the Sabarimala gold loss issue but had remained “silent” when Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin’s son, Udhayanidhi Stalin, allegedly insulted the Hindu community and its beliefs.
On Monday, Rahul questioned Prime Minister Modi’s alleged silence on the Sabarimala issue.
He said that while Modi speaks about temples and religion wherever he goes, he did not address what happened in Sabarimala during his visit to Palakkad.
Rahul also claimed that the PM “remained silent to avoid damaging the LDF”, alleging that this showed the BJP and the Left were “working together”.
He added that “Narendra Modi does not care about religion, Hinduism or temples.”
