Thiruvananthapuram | Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday remembered the iconic revolutionary leader Che Guevara on his 56th anniversary of martyrdom and said the Cuban communist leader sacrificed his life for building anti-imperialist movements.
Vijayan said Che, as he is popularly known, and his legacy informs and inspires liberation movements across the world.
"Today, we pay tribute to the magnificent memories of Che Guevara, the great revolutionary who sacrificed his life for building anti-imperialist movements. His legacy informs and inspires liberation movements across the world that strive to realise a better future for all.
"Let's hold onto the ideals Che fought for and march forward for a brighter tomorrow!" Vijayan said in an Instagram post.
Minister M B Rajesh said Che has always been an inspiration to revolutionary fighters around the world and his martyrdom provides strength in the struggle to create an egalitarian and socialist system.
The CPI(M) also remembered the revolutionary on his death anniversary and posted on social media.
The social media handles of Left profiles were filled with memorials of Che with his various pictures and videos, including the speech at the United Nations and his quotes.
