Thiruvananthapuram | BJP Kerala president Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Sunday accused the Congress and the CPI(M) of indulging in "vote-bank and appeasement politics," alleging that they had led to the "radicalisation" of a section of the youth in the state.

In a post on X, Chandrasekhar referred to the recent arrest of a Kerala youth for allegedly posting anti-national remarks celebrating the killing of a Malayali victim in the Pahalgam terror attack.

"How does a young Malayali get brainwashed into celebrating the brutal, cold-blooded murder of a fellow Malayali in the Pahalgam terror attack?" he asked.

Describing the arrest as a "wake-up call," the BJP leader alleged that it was not an isolated incident but the result of "years of appeasement, radicalisation and Congress-CPM's political hypocrisy."

He alleged that the two parties had prioritised vote-bank politics over national interest, mainstreamed radical forces, and questioned expressions of patriotism, thereby creating "an ecosystem where patriotism is questioned, and radicalisation is normalised."

Claiming that such politics was dangerous for both Kerala and the country, Chandrasekhar said the state's youth deserved "a future built on skills, opportunity, innovation and patriotism; not hatred, radicalisation and division."

He asserted that Kerala's future lay in "deeper integration with India's growth story" and called for an end to what he termed "dangerous politics" and the beginning of the "politics of performance".
