Chennai | Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay on Wednesday embarked on a three-day visit to New Delhi to attend the NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting.
The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, brings together chief ministers and administrators from across the country to discuss developmental agendas and cooperative federalism, sources said.
Before departing, Vijay paid his last respects to veteran director Bharathiraja at his residence. He then took a chartered flight from Chennai at about 10 am.
This marks Vijay's second official visit to the national capital since assuming office.
During his maiden visit on May 27, he held high-profile meetings with Prime Minister Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
After arriving in Delhi, the chief minister checked in at Tamil Nadu House. He is expected to address the council, outlining the state's key economic and welfare priorities, sources added.
Though there was no official confirmation of his exact itinerary, sources said Vijay is likely to meet President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President C P Radhakrishnan.
Beyond official engagements, Vijay is likely to hold a separate meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and make courtesy calls on senior Congress leaders.
He is expected to return to Chennai on Friday evening.
