New Delhi | Seeking to protect MPs from rain and other weather conditions, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Friday directed architects and CPWD to examine how a porch can be constructed at Parliament House's Makar Dwar.
Officials said Birla is of the view that a porch would be beneficial for Members of Parliament standing at the door of Parliament House.
Heavy rains have been lashing the national capital where the Monsoon session of Parliament is in progress.
The old Parliament House has porch at different gates, including the one used by MPs. The speaker has asked for a feasibility report from architects and Central Public Works Department (CPWD) for constructing a similar facility at Makar Dwar of the new building.
A video of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra standing in rain without umbrella outside Parliament House on Thursday is doing the rounds on social media.
