Indore | IIM Indore's Centre of Excellence, ANVESHAN, focused on Waste Management and WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene), successfully concluded its first-ever batch on August 3, 2023. The four-day programme saw the participation of 26 municipal commissioners and senior officers from 14 states across the country.

The inaugural batch aimed to empower dynamic leaders committed to driving positive change in waste management and sanitation practices, with a vision of creating a cleaner, greener, and healthier India.

The programme, inaugurated on July 31, 2023, by IIM Indore's Director, Prof. Himanshu Rai, featured sessions led by esteemed experts covering topics such as Leadership and Communication, Infrastructure Financing, Waste Management, Waste to Energy, and Behavioral Change, among others.

During the valedictory function, Prof. Himanshu Rai congratulated the participants and encouraged them to utilize the knowledge gained to implement sustainable waste management practices in their respective cities. He expressed optimism about continuing this transformative journey with many more batches to come.

Kunal Kumar, IAS, Joint Secretary, Mission Director – SmartCities Mission, MoHUA, Government of India, graced the virtual event and commended the initiative taken by IIM Indore. He emphasized the importance of the two-way flow of knowledge between administration and academia to create impactful solutions.

The first batch of ANVESHAN not only visited the Indore Municipal Corporation but also participated in reflective sessions to share their learnings and experiences gained during the program.

With a generous grant of Rs. 19.95 Cr from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), ANVESHAN is poised to make a lasting impact on cleanliness, waste management, and hygiene standards in India.
