VISAKHAPATNAM | One of the top leading universities in the country GITAM Deemed to be University has launched Rs.100 crore Multidisciplinary Unit of Research on Translational Initiatives (MURTI) research centre at Bengaluru here on Wednesday. As part of National Science Day celebrations the Chief Designer of the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas program and Padmashri Awardee Dr.Kota Harinarayana, U.S.Consul General Christopher W. Hodges attended as guests and inaugurated the MURTI research labs.

While briefing about the MURTI research GITAM Vice-Chancellor Prof.Dayananda Siddavattam said that the university has invested 100 crores to upgrade the research infrastructure and to bring young talented research students from across the country recruited as MURTI Excellence fellows. Further he briefed that Bengaluru MURTI Centre actively collaborates with the institutes and a galaxy of software and hardware industry to find solutions to some of the pressing problems of the modern societies. 

Bengaluru MURTI centre will collaborate with the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru to bring AI assisted agricultural practices to revolutionise technologies, to be used in crop protection, crop management, water conservation and post harvest technologies. Similarly, MURTI Labs are joining companies, to develop softwares required for autonomous vehicle systems, soil science, biotech interventions to improve the shelf life of perishable agriculture products are the prime objectives of MURTI, Bengaluru.

U.S. Consul General Christopher W. Hodges said that “MURTI” is the kind of integrated and dynamic research model we need for innovation and partnership that helps drive our economies and relationship forward. Dr.Kota Harinarayana appreciated the university management for taking initiative to promote science research. GITAM Bengaluru Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof.KNS Acharya and others participated in the event.
