Hyderabad | The ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE), Hyderabad, has appointed Dr. A. Vinay Kumar as its Vice Chancellor, with effect from  August 3rd , 2026, bringing to the institution more than 27 years of experience in higher education, academic leadership, institutional governance and strategic development.


Dr. Vinay Kumar is a distinguished academic and finance scholar with over two decades of experience at the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow, where he served as Professor and Associate Professor of Finance and held several important institutional responsibilities. His experience encompasses academic administration, institutional development, research, accreditation, curriculum transformation, executive education and financial stewardship.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Kumar has provided leadership across diverse areas of higher education, including institutional development, academic restructuring, accreditation and rankings, doctoral education, research ecosystems, entrepreneurship, executive education and industry engagement. His institutional leadership experience includes managing large and multidisciplinary academic portfolios, with responsibilities covering more than 11,000 students and over 25 departments.

He has a strong track record in institutional elevation and quality enhancement, including strategic work relating to NIRF rankings and international accreditations such as AACSB, AMBA and SAQS. He has also led initiatives in curriculum redesign, NEP-aligned academic programmes, AI integration in higher education, learning innovation, entrepreneurship and research.

At IIM Lucknow, Dr. Vinay Kumar served as Chairman of the Doctoral Programme and held key institutional responsibilities including Chairmanship of the Audit Committee and Employee Provident Fund. He also led structural and curricular reviews of major academic programmes and conceptualised and established the institution's Case Research Center, developing partnerships with  leading international case research organisations.


His academic and executive education experience extends to collaborations with leading global institutions including Cambridge University, Oxford University, London School of Economics, Erasmus University, University of Melbourne and National University of Singapore. He has also designed and delivered executive development programmes for major public and private sector organisations.

A finance scholar by training, Dr. Vinay Kumar's research interests include venture capital, market microstructure, options and derivatives, sentiment analysis in financial markets and corporate governance. He holds a Ph.D. in Business Management (Finance) from Osmania University and has undertaken executive pedagogy training at Harvard Business School.

Dr. Kumar's appointment comes at a time when higher education is being reshaped by artificial intelligence, interdisciplinary learning, changing industry requirements, global academic engagement and the evolving framework of the National Education Policy.


At ICFAI, his mandate will be to build upon the institution's existing academic strengths while advancing academic excellence, research and innovation, global engagement, industry partnerships, entrepreneurship and new-age learning.
