Mumbai | Shreenagar police station in Thane is currently seeking the assistance of the public to help locate the relatives of Gopalakrishna Pillai, a Mumbai Malayali who was found dead on a road in Thane. The case has been under investigation since his death on the 15th of this month.
According to sources, Pillai was discovered lying on the road in Thane Wagle Estate ITI by passers-by who immediately notified the authorities. He was then taken to a hospital where he was declared dead upon arrival. A post mortem examination revealed that he had died from a heart attack.
It was later discovered that Pillai had been living alone in Kisan Nagar, Thane, and had been estranged from his family for years. He had been employed as a cook in hotels and canteens in Thane and other cities for some time. Despite being a native of Kollam district in Kerala, it was discovered that he had no known relatives in the city.
Vasanth Balu Bhoye, the investigating officer of the Shreenagar police station, has urged anyone with information on the whereabouts of Pillai's family to come forward and share the information with the police. The body of the deceased has been taken to Thane Civil Hospital.
Vinod Ramesan, a social activist based in Thane, has also appealed to the public to come forward with any information they may have about Pillai's family background. He has requested that anyone who knows about the family background of Gopala Krishna Pillai, who is believed to be around 60 years old, should come forward and assist the police in resolving the case.
