Pune | In a heartfelt tribute to the late Oommen Chandy, Sajeev Joseph MLA emphasized the indelible mark the charismatic leader left on Kerala politics. The occasion was the Oommen Chandy Remembrance Conference, which took place at Akurdi CMS Kerala Bhavan in Pune. The event was organized by various Malayalee organizations, drawing attention to Chandy's enduring legacy.

Renowned for his strategic acumen and genuine rapport with the masses, Oommen Chandy earned the moniker of a "living leader among the people." His tenure as Chief Minister was marked by a public relations drive that underscored his unwavering commitment to prioritizing the welfare of the citizens. Notable infrastructural achievements, including the Vizhinjam Port, Kannur Airport, and Kochi Metro, stand as testaments to his role in propelling Kerala's development.

Sajeev Joseph lamented that Oommen Chandy's passing has left a void, particularly for the global Malayali diaspora, who considered him a steadfast advocate for their concerns.

The conference, presided over by Vijayan, saw the participation of distinguished figures such as trade union leader Rajan Nair, former Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation corporator Babu Nair, and Pune Malayalam Language Campaign Committee Chairman P.V. Bhaskaran. Ganesh Kumar, MD of Aoki Group, Shani Naushad, Vice President of Pune Malayali Federation, and T.D. Johnny, General Secretary, also offered their insights. The event witnessed a notable turnout of representatives from various Malayali associations, each sharing their perspectives on Oommen Chandy's impact.

N.P. Ravi, President of Nigadi Malayali Samajam, extended a warm welcome to the attendees, while Saji Varki, General Secretary of Congress Pimpri Chinchwad District, conveyed the vote of thanks. Lata Vinod adeptly moderated the proceedings, ensuring a fitting tribute to the memory of Oommen Chandy.
