Nashik | The Nashik Malayalee Cultural Association (NMCA) Charitable Trust marked its 37th anniversary with a vibrant Onam celebration on October 19, 2024, at Mauli Lawns, Nashik. The event was graced by the presence of NMCA President Shri Gokulam Gopalakrishna Pillai, Secretary Shri Anup Pushpangathan, Treasurer Shri Radhakrishnan Pillai, Working President Shri Jayaprakash Nair, and chief guest Mr. Shamim Khan (Under Secretary to government of Kerala) and Senior Police Inspector Shri Madhukar Kad.

The celebrations were not only attended by the Malayalee community but saw enthusiastic participation from the local Maharashtrian community as well, showcasing cultural unity. Highlights included a stunning Pookalam competition, a spirited Tug of War, and prize distributions for students who excelled in their 10th and 12th-grade exams. The function also included felicitation of two eminent social workers. One of them Mr. Bhavesh Vasantrao Brahmankar (Journalist) was given the Special Achievement Award for the work in Media and Mr. Premlal Raman (Senior Journalist and Director, Amchi Mumbai) was given award for the Best Social Worker. The show-stopping “Pennnoruma Megashow,” performed by a group of women, captivated the audience.

The success of the event was a result of the tireless efforts of Vishwanathan Pillai (Vice President), Unni V. George (Vice President), KPS Nair (Joint secretary), K. Sadashivan (Joint secretary), Vinoji Cherian (Joint secretary), K.G. Radhakrishnan (Joint secretary), Rajesh Kurup (Joint Treasurer), Gireesan K. Nair (Convenor) and all the other committee members who worked together to make the day memorable. The festivities concluded with a grand Onam Sadhya, leaving everyone with a sense of pride and joy. This celebration added yet another feather to NMCA’s cap.
