Mumbai | Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) urges its customers to remain vigilant against fraudulent messages and calls, scam links, malicious APK downloads and impersonation attempts being circulated via SMS and WhatsApp, claiming to be related to gas bill updates or immediate disconnection of gas supply.
Recently, many instances have been reported, where consumers are being contacted by fraudsters impersonating as MGL representatives and being sent fake gas bill updates and disconnection messages, urging them to click on suspicious links, download APK files, or share sensitive information.
Such messages are intentionally sent by fraudsters to mislead consumers into disclosing confidential financial details or installing malware on their devices, which then results in cyber thefts of significant amounts of money.
Consumers are cautioned to remain vigilant and not respond to such fraudulent communication. In case of receipt of any suspicious message or call, customers are requested to immediately verify by contacting MGL directly through its official channels.

MGL would like to categorically reiterate that its representatives never ask for personal financial information such as bank details, OTPs, card numbers or passwords over phone calls, SMS or WhatsApp messages. It will also never ask consumers to download APK files and click on unknown or suspicious links.
MGL has been continuously sensitizing customers through various communication channels to remain cautious about fraudulent messages, links, and other suspicious digital activities. Despite these efforts, some customers are still falling victim to such cyber‑fraud attempts. In such instances customers are advised to immediately approach and report the matter to their nearest police station or cybercrime cell for appropriate action.
