Mumbai | The BJP candidate from Amravati, Navneet Rana, dropped a bombshell, claiming that there was no Modi wave in the upcoming elections and asked party workers not to be complacent. The Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) took a jibe at Rana, saying what she said was true and reflected the mindset of the voters. Rana's controversial speech came during an election rally in Amravati.

The actor-turned politician told party workers that they could not afford to sit idle under the illusion that the Modi wave would see the party through easily. Like the panchayat elections, voters should be brought to the polling booths by noon this time too, she said.  There was a Modi wave in 2019 and despite this she had won as an Independent, she reminded them. Incidentally, after winning then with the support of the NCP, she moved over to the BJP later.

After the speech became controversial, Rana came out with a damage-control exercise. She said the Opposition was misinterpreting the video by editing it and there was a Modi wave in the country this time too. People were aware of Modi's work and the party would win 400 seats this time, she added.
