

New Delhi | Additional Director General, Military Nursing Service (MNS), Maj Gen Lisamma P V, has been conferred the prestigious National Florence Nightingale Award in recognition of her service, officials said on Tuesday.
The Indian Air Force in a post on X congratulated the general officer and said her distinguished service, leadership and dedication to military healthcare continue to inspire generations in uniform.
President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday conferred the National Florence Nightingale Awards for 2026 on 15 nursing professionals in recognition of their exemplary service and contribution to strengthening public healthcare delivery.
The awards were presented at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the presence of Union Health Minister J P Nadda.
They were honoured for their unwavering dedication to strengthening public health delivery and their outstanding commitment to the welfare of the community.

Maj Gen Lisamma P V had assumed the appointment of Additional Director General, Military Nursing Service (MNS) on May 1, 2025.
Hailing from Kollam district of Kerala, the general officer is an alumna of the School of Nursing, Military Hospital, Jalandhar.
After her commissioning into MNS in 1986, the general officer obtained a bachelor's degree in arts and law along with a master's degree in hospital administration, the defence ministry had earlier said in a statement.
Alongside her professionally rich nursing career, she has excelled as an administrator handling various appointments, it said.
