Idukki(Kerala) | A youth allegedly died by suicide on Tuesday in Kolukkumalai near Munnar on the Kerala-TN border, police said.
An officer of Santhanpara police station said the body of the young man from TN was recovered from a gorge where he jumped and taken away for postmortem by Tamil Nadu police.
The officer said that since the incident occurred on the Tamil Nadu side of the border, the case and other formalities, including inquest, will be handled by the police of that state.
"Kerala police and fire and rescue officers were present at the site to help with the search and recovery operation," he said.
The incident occurred early in the morning.
The site is a well known sunrise viewpoint and is a tourist destination, police said.
