Kochi | US President Donald Trump's son-in-law Michael Boulos arrived in Kochi for a private visit on Saturday, official sources said.
Boulos, who is married to Trump's daughter Tiffany Trump, was accompanied by US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor, they said.
Some media reports said Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan held discussions with Boulos but the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) denied them. They confirmed that CM Satheesan held talks with the US ambassador here.
"It was an official meeting. Any other report in this regard was wrong," a government source said.
When contacted, a US Embassy spokesperson said, "Michael Boulos has been friends with Ambassador Gor for nearly a decade. He is visiting India for the second time this year to see his friend. He is here in his personal capacity, not on an official visit."
Ambassador Gor later posted a photo of him with Boulos on his social media handle and said: "Welcome back to India @MichaelZBoulos! Thrilled to have my friend join me in Kerala."
Later in the day, television channels showed Boulos enjoying the beauty of the backwaters in Alappuzha and carrying out a houseboat ride there. He also waved at mediapersons who gathered there to take his visuals, but didn't talk to them.
Ambassador Gor, who came along with him, told reporters that it was his first visit to Kerala.
"We had an absolutely incredible time visiting the backwaters here. It's a great place to visit," he said.
The diplomat further said they came here to spend only one day and they were going back to Delhi today itself.
He also said they would be coming back here soon.
