Irinjalakuda: The Social Justice Department of Kerala is planning to establish a rehabilitation villages for differently-abled persons. The villages will have facilities for therapies counseling, vocational training, special education, recreational and opportunities for productive use of their abilities and skills.
A workshop to plan the rehabilitation village will be held on May 29 at NIPMR. The workshop will be inaugurated by Minister of Higher Education and Social Justice Dr. R. Bindu.
Other participants in the workshop will include Kerala Handicapped Welfare Corporation Chairperson Jaya Daly, Director of Social Justice Chetan Kumar Meena IAS, Social Security Mission Director A. Shibu IAS, Handicapped Welfare Corporation Managing Director Moideen Kutty, Health University Dean Prof: K.S. Shaji, NIPMR Executive Director in Charge C. Chandrababu, NISH Executive Director in Charge Dr. Suja Mathew, and other experts from disability sector.The worshop is expected to formulate modalities for establishing Assisted villages in the state.
