Thiruvananthapuram | Kerala BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Sunday said the SNDP Yogam could play a key role in securing the future of the community by promoting leadership, entrepreneurship and economic empowerment among the younger generation.
In a Facebook post, the Nemom MLA congratulated the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam general secretary, Vellappally Natesan, who was conferred the Padma Bhushan and shared pictures of a leadership training camp organised by the community body in Bengaluru.
The SNDP Yogam represents the numerically strong Ezhava community in Kerala.
"Educational excellence, economic self-reliance, entrepreneurship, investments and technology are essential for ensuring the long-term progress of any community. No community can achieve lasting development without active participation in these sectors," he said.
He said communities lacking economic strength would not be able to sustain their political influence or social security in the long run.
"That is why economic empowerment is the strongest foundation for securing the future of a community," he said.
Chandrasekhar said organisations like the SNDP Yogam could play a crucial role in nurturing the next generation through youth-oriented programmes, leadership development and entrepreneurship.
Expressing concern over what he described as the economic decline of Kerala's majority communities, he said advocating equality and equal justice in a democracy was a constitutional right.
"It is not a healthy trend to brand those who seek equal justice as communal. That practice must end," he said.
He said the responsibility was to transform the younger generation from job seekers into job creators and entrepreneurs.
"That is how we can build a stronger community and a stronger Kerala -- a Viksita Keralam," he said.
Chandrasekhar also said only the BJP-led NDA's development-oriented initiatives and its "Politics of Performance" could bring real change and prosperity to the lives of people in Kerala.
