Thiruvananthapuram | Keralam Chief Minister V D Satheesan called upon students to develop an environment-friendly outlook and recognise that the health of humans and nature are closely interconnected.
He was speaking while distributing the Chief Minister's Shield Award to Bharat Scouts and Guides students at a function here.
"Nature and human beings are not two different things; they are one and the same," Satheesan said.
He stressed the importance of developing an environment-friendly mindset to protect nature.
Referring to the globally emerging concept of 'One Health', the chief minister said health should not be viewed as something limited to human beings alone.
"One Health is an idea gaining acceptance across the world. We do not have health only for ourselves. There is one health for nature, human beings and everything around us. We must develop an environment-friendly perspective to protect it," he said.
Satheesan also urged students to stand by those who are struggling and extend support to them. Even when financial assistance is not possible, stand with them, he said.
The CM also urged students to be politically aware and participate in democratic life.
He further advised them to stay away from drugs and make responsible choices in life.
