Wayanad (Kerala) | Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday made her first visit to the landslide site at Kalladi here since the disaster claimed eight lives, and interacted with some of the survivors.

The Congress MP landed at Kannur airport in the morning and travelled by road to the landslide site in Meppadi, Wayanad constituency.

On the way to the disaster site, Vadra was greeted by students of Wayanad Engineering College, who thanked her for leading the protest by students and the Cockroach Janata Party in Delhi against alleged irregularities in the NEET exam, party sources said.

She subsequently reached the disaster site near the Anakkampoyil tunnel road project at around 2 pm and met some of the survivors, hearing how they had a narrow escape.

She is scheduled to visit those injured in the incident who are undergoing treatment at WIMS Hospital here, and will also visit the site where the Congress is building homes for survivors of the Chooralmala landslides, the sources said.

Eight people were killed in the landslide that occurred on July 7 at the site of the Anakkampoyil–Meppadi tunnel project, which is intended to connect Wayanad and Kozhikode districts
