Thiruvananthapuram | Leader of Opposition in Keralam Assembly Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday criticised the NCLT's approval of a repayment plan of a meagre Rs 6.5 crore against claims of Rs 22,006.57 crore involving media baron Subhash Chandra, alleging a nexus between big corporate interests and the BJP.
In a post on X, Vijayan, a Veteran CPI(M) leader, said Chandra's "close ties with the BJP and the Sangh Parivar" made the alleged nexus more evident.
"While the poor face harsh consequences for even small defaults, the rich and powerful continue to receive favourable treatment at the expense of ordinary taxpayers," the former Keralam Chief Minister said.
"This blatant injustice cannot be allowed to pass. The NCLT order must be reversed, and the interests of ordinary people must take precedence over those of the powerful," Vijayan said.
He said the NCLT's order exposed the "deep nexus between big corporate interests and the BJP".
The National Company Law Tribunal has controversially approved media baron Chandra's personal insolvency resolution plan, which proposes a mere Rs 6.5 crore settlement against over Rs 22,000 crore in admitted creditor claims, amidst strong objections regarding the voting influence of family-linked entities.
