Kochi | Leader of Opposition in the Keralam Assembly Pinarayi Vijayan and his daughter Veena T on Monday moved the Kerala High Court against a single-judge direction to register FIRs against them in connection with the alleged CMRL bribery case.
In their appeals, they have contended that the single judge's October 9 direction was issued without hearing them.
Advocate P Narayana, appearing for Vijayan and Veena, said the matter is likely to be heard by the High Court during the day.
The appeals have been filed even as the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau's (VACB) Special Investigation Unit-1, on Monday registered two FIRs against former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his family members in connection with the alleged CMRL bribery case.
The Kerala High Court had on October 9 directed registration of a case based on a report submitted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to the state police.
The ED had sought registration of a case based on evidence gathered during its investigation and searches conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
The agency has alleged that CMRL made fraudulent payments of Rs 2.78 crore to Veena's now-defunct company, Exalogic Solutions, under the guise of IT consultancy services.
