Thiruvananthapuram | Leader of Opposition in the Keralam assembly Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday congratulated Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva for his historic fourth win as Brazil's president, saying that his victory reaffirms the "enduring relevance of Left politics".
Vijayan, in an X post, said that Lula da Silva's continued electoral success also affirms the relevance of the working class's power to shape its own future.
"From Brazil to India, the lesson is clear that confronting the far right requires a systemic alternative rooted in workers' rights, social justice and equality," he said.
The Marxist veteran further said that Lula's victory renews hope in the struggle against the Sangh Parivar's alleged divisive politics and "for a more just and democratic India".
With 100 per cent of the vote counted, Brazil's electoral court announced that Lula, a member of the Workers' Party, had a lead of nearly 4.4 million votes -- 51.8 per cent of the total vote -- over opponent Flavio Bolsonaro.
