Thiruvananthapuram | KPCC president and Electricity Minister Sunny Joseph on Thursday said the Congress high command would consider the concerns raised by UDF convenor Adoor Prakash over the functioning of the coalition and take an appropriate decision.

Congress MP Prakash had recently expressed dissatisfaction with major decisions of the state government not being discussed within the UDF and said he was only learning about important developments through media reports.

Prakash later said he would raise the concerns with the AICC during his visit to Delhi.

Speaking to reporters, Joseph said the concerns are now before the high command and that an appropriate decision will be made.

"We cannot say anything about that right now because those issues are currently before the High Command. They will take an appropriate decision on the matter," he said.

On Prakash raising allegations against the UDF government at the press conference held at the KPCC headquarters, Joseph said he had personally spoken to Prakash about the issue.

"He held the press conference at the KPCC headquarters. When we spoke, he mentioned that he initially highlighted the attacks by the BJP and CPI(M) on party establishments, including the KPCC office, and against party workers," Joseph said.

"However, when the media asked about certain other matters, he made a few remarks as part of answering them. Adoor Prakash directly told me that the media highlighted only those specific remarks," he said.

Referring to the ongoing protests led by the Congress and INDIA bloc against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll, Joseph said the focus is on ensuring free and fair elections and an accurate voters' list.

"When we stand united on the front lines of the protest against Gyanesh Kumar, other issues lose their relevance. Everyone is focused on a single point, which is the lifeblood of democracy: free and fair elections," he said.

Joseph said every eligible person should be allowed to vote and ineligible names should not be included in the voters' list.

"That is more powerful than even a bullet. The voters' list carries more power than a bullet. That list must be accurate," he said.

He said the Congress and the INDIA alliance were organising protests over the issue and sought support from all sections of society.

Joseph said protest rallies were held across Keralam on Wednesday by all constituency committees against the arrest of Rahul Gandhi and other leaders, and that a Black Day was being observed nationally on Thursday.

He appealed to Congress workers and supporters of democracy in Keralam to participate in the Black Day observance.
