Thiruvananthapuram | The Keralam government will launch the digital land resurvey 2 on November 1, Revenue Minister A P Anil Kumar said on Thursday.
The government is also considering issuing land ID cards containing comprehensive details of land owned by individuals and will launch awareness campaigns through social media and other platforms to familiarise people with the resurvey process, he told the Assembly.
The minister said 1.8 lakh complaints had been received in connection with the resurvey, of which 80,000 had been resolved under the government's 100-day action plan. The remaining complaints would be addressed on an urgent basis, he said.
The government would also take steps to ensure that the maximum number of eligible people received land titles, Kumar added.
Digital resurvey activities have commenced in 839 villages across the state, he said.
Field survey operations have been completed and final notifications issued in 260 villages, while draft notifications have been published in 120 villages. Field surveys are progressing at various stages in 210 villages, and preliminary work for the digital resurvey has begun in the remaining 239 villages, the minister said.
He said digital resurvey operations had been temporarily halted in some areas due to complaints and a shortage of funds.
The services of temporary surveyors and helpers appointed by the previous government for the digital resurvey had been utilised until September 1 but were no longer being used, he said.
"The digital resurvey 2 will begin on November 1. New surveyors and helpers will then be appointed for the same," the minister said.
The government would undertake comprehensive publicity campaigns, including through social media and other platforms, to create greater public awareness about the exercise, he said.
An AI chatbot providing round-the-clock answers to landowners' queries related to the digital resurvey was launched as part of the government's 100-day action plan, enabling them to get their doubts clarified without having to visit government offices, he added.
