Kannur (Keralam) | Police are searching for a 46-year-old man who allegedly punctured his mother-in-law's car tyres after his wife filed for divorce, officials said on Friday.
According to police, Pariyaram police on September 2 registered a case against Deepak Kakkamani of Anchampeedika here.
Deepak went into hiding after the incident, and efforts were made to trace him, they said.
The incident took place at noon on September 1 when the complainant, Leena Sukumaran, parked her car in the basement of an office in Pilathara here, officials said.
When she returned, she found all four tyres of the car punctured. Police said CCTV footage from the area showed Deepak, wearing a helmet, allegedly using a knife to puncture the tyres.
Police said Deepak married Sukumaran's daughter in 2010 and their marriage ran into trouble in 2020.
The couple later began living separately, and the woman recently filed a divorce petition, police said.
After the petition was filed, Deepak allegedly threatened her family multiple times, officials said.
Police are trying to trace Deepak with the help of the cyber cell. Statements of his family members have also been recorded as part of the probe, they said.
