Malappuram (Keralam) | A man arrested for allegedly morphing photographs of women into obscene images attempted suicide at a lodge here, police said on Friday.
Subin Babu (26) of Odankuzhi at Thirumala in Thiruvananthapuram was arrested by the Malappuram police on Wednesday.
A local court later granted him bail and directed him not to leave the district, police said.
Following the court's direction, Babu was staying at a lodge in Malappuram, where he allegedly attempted suicide by cutting a vein in his hand on Thursday night, police said.
Lodge employees found him injured and rushed him to a nearby hospital. His condition is currently stable, police said.
Police said a report on the incident would be filed before the concerned court.
Babu, who works as a mobile phone technician in Thiruvananthapuram, allegedly collected photographs of women, particularly students, from Instagram and morphed them into obscene images, police said.
He allegedly circulated the morphed images on social media platforms.
Around 12 female students from Malappuram district had approached police after their morphed photographs were circulated on social media, prompting an investigation that led to Babu's arrest, officials said
