Idukki (Kerala) | Kerala Congress (Joseph), the third major ally in the UDF, has demanded all the 10 seats it contested in the previous Assembly election, but is open to swapping constituencies this time.

The Assembly election in Kerala would be held on April 9.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, party chief P J Joseph said that during the seat-sharing discussion with the Congress on Sunday night, the party demanded the same seats it had contested in the 2021 Assembly election.

"But some compromises have to be made. The final list will be revealed by Tuesday," he said.

Joseph said that the Congress has asked for the Idukki constituency, where the party had contested in the 2021 election.

"It is difficult to give up the constituency. However, as we are part of the alliance, there will be discussions on it. We will reveal the constituencies by Tuesday," he said.

Joseph said that seat-sharing with other allies would be concluded within two days, and further discussions have to be held within the party before announcing the candidates.

Regarding his candidature from the Thodupuzha constituency, he said the announcement would be made together.

"I will say about it later. We will announce the candidate in Kottayam. We plan to do it on Tuesday," he said.

Kerala Congress (Joseph) contested in 10 seats in the 2021 Assembly election and won two.

There are reports that the Congress is looking to exchange seats, such as Idukki and Kuttanad, by offering other constituencies to the Kerala Congress (Joseph).
