Malappuram (Kerala) | Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan visited the residence of IUML supremo Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal at Pannakkad in the district on the occasion of the Bakrid festival on Thursday.
During the visit, Satheesan held discussions with Thangal, senior IUML leader P K Kunhalikutty and others.
Speaking to reporters, Satheesan said that this was his first visit to the Malabar region after becoming chief minister, and that he chose Pannakkad Thangal's residence for the occasion.
He added that meeting community leaders on a festival day like Bakrid was a moment of happiness.
The chief minister also said that Kerala should continue to be a place where all festivals are celebrated together, without caste or religious differences, and expressed hope that this spirit of unity would grow stronger in the coming days.
Thangal expressed happiness over the visit. The leaders shared breakfast before Satheesan departed.
