Thiruvananthapuram | BJP Kerala president Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Friday accused the Congress-led UDF government of remaining silent over the alleged PSC recruitment irregularities and contrasted its response with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's handling of question paper leak complaints at the national level.
In a Facebook post, Chandrasekhar alleged that the previous CPI(M)-led government had denied justice to thousands of genuine state Public Service Commission (PSC) rank holders through alleged backdoor appointments, manipulation of rank lists and protection of corrupt officials.
He also pointed out that the present PSC chairman, Dr M R Baiju, was appointed by the previous Pinarayi Vijayan government.
Claiming that the current government led by Chief Minister V D Satheesan had failed to act despite the allegations, the BJP leader said that if it was serious about ensuring justice, it should have ordered a judicial probe without delay.
Drawing a comparison with the Centre's response to examination-related complaints, Chandrasekhar said that when young people raised concerns over question paper leaks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi listened to them and took decisive action.
He alleged that despite what he described as a "bigger fraud" involving the Kerala Public Service Commission, the Congress government was unwilling even to hear the grievances of PSC rank holders.
The BJP leader further alleged that the Congress and the CPI(M) were no different when it came to denying deserving candidates government jobs and accused both parties of protecting the same recruitment system.
He said the BJP would continue to stand with Kerala's youth and fight for merit, transparency and justice.
