

Thiruvananthapuram | The Kerala Assembly polls scheduled on April 9 will see 890 candidates from various political parties seeking the mandate of the over 2.7 crore voters in the state, according to ECI figures.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) said that of the 2,125 nominations received by it, 890 candidates remain in the fray following the scrutiny process and withdrawal of candidature by others on Thursday.
There were 957 candidates in the 2021 Assembly polls in the state.
Koduvally constituency in Kozhikode district has the highest number of candidates -- 13, according to the ECI figures.
The ECI also released the electorate data as per which there are 2,71,42,952 voters in the state, including those overseas, and they will cast their ballot at 30,471 polling stations across Kerala. Of these, 1,38,84,001 are women and 1,30,16,593 are men, with the 40-49 age group having the highest number of voters -- 56,32,036, according to the ECI data.
The figures also showed that there are 273 third gender and 2,44,927 disabled voters in the state.
It also showed that the highest number of voters -- 36,32,210 -- are there in Malappuram district and the lowest -- 6,43,625 -- in Wayanad.
There are also 53,984 service voters in the state, according to the data.
