Thiruvananthapuram | The KSEB has said partial power restrictions could be required after 7 pm on Monday if it was unable to procure the required quantity of electricity through the power exchange.

In a statement, the Kerala State Electricity Board said electricity consumption in the state has increased significantly compared with previous years due to the rainfall deficit caused by the El Nino phenomenon and the comparatively high atmospheric temperatures.

It also said the availability of electricity through the power exchange has come down as power demand has increased across the country.

With dry weather continuing in the state, power consumption on Monday is expected to rise by around 300 to 400 MW compared with previous days, the board said.

"If the required quantity of electricity is not available through the power exchange, partial power restrictions may be required in the state after 7 pm today (13.07.2026)," it said.
