Thiruvananthapuram | The SIT probing the Sabarimala gold loss cases on Wednesday arrested former TDB member K P Sankara Das from a private hospital here, sources said.
Das was arrested in two cases related to the alleged loss of gold from the Dwarapalaka (guardian deity) idols and the Sreekovil (sanctum sanctorum) door frames, they said.
The former Travancore Devaswom Board member, listed as the 11th accused, was undergoing treatment at the hospital when the SIT team reached the facility and recorded his arrest.
However, he continues to remain hospitalised due to his health condition, the sources said.
The SIT has submitted a report to the Kollam vigilance court, and the judge is scheduled to complete the remand procedures at the hospital on Thursday, they said.
The arrest comes days after the Kerala High Court questioned the SIT over the delay in arresting Das in connection with the two cases.
Das, whose son is a senior IPS officer, is the 12th person to be arrested in the cases.
Former TDB presidents N Vasu and A Padmakumar, and former board member N Vijayakumar, are currently in judicial custody.
Sabarimala Tantri Kandararu Rajeevaru was arrested last week in connection with the alleged loss of gold from the Sreekovil door frames of the Lord Ayyappa temple.
On Tuesday, the Kollam vigilance court granted permission to the SIT to arrest him in the case related to the loss of gold from the Dwarapalaka idols.
