Thiruvananthapuram | A minor fire broke out near the parking area of the Central Railway Station here on Monday, but was quickly brought under control, preventing any major mishap, officials said.

The fire reportedly originated from a heap of waste near the parking area. Several two-wheelers were parked in close proximity, local people said.

"No damage was reported in the incident so far. After being alered, fire force personnel rushed to the area and doused the flames quickly," a police officer said.

The incident was first noticed by a staff member at the parking counter, who promptly alerted railway authorities. Soon, fire and rescue personnel rushed to the spot and managed to douse the blaze within 15 minutes.

No casualties or property damage were reported in the incident, officials added.

The incident comes after a similar fire at Thrissur Railway Station recently, in which several motorcycles were gutted.
