Thiruvananthapuram | A case has been registered after three Excise officials were injured during a search at the residence of a person suspected to be involved in drug peddling at Chirayinkeezhu here, police said on Thursday.

Police said the case was registered against Agarus, Agasi and Jyothsan, who allegedly assaulted Excise officials Aromal, Sharan and Gokul while they were conducting a search at the accused persons' residence at Puthukkari, Chirayinkeezhu on Tuesday night.

According to police, the Excise Enforcement and Narcotic Special Squad reached the house of Agarus, who is involved in multiple criminal cases, following information that he had stocked MDMA there.

While the search was underway, Agarus allegedly attempted to escape from the spot but was blocked by Aromal.

At this point, Agarus allegedly assaulted and bit Aromal, police said.

When Sharan and Gokul rushed to help Aromal, Agasi and Jyothsan allegedly attacked them.

However, the Excise officials managed to subdue the trio and shifted them to the nearby station, police said.

The injured Excise officials were later taken to hospital and discharged after medical aid, police added.

Based on a complaint lodged by Aromal, police have registered a case on Wednesday and started an investigation, officials said.
