Irinjalakuda: In a significant development, the Delhi government has initiated a comprehensive feasibility study to establish a state-of-the-art rehabilitation centers based on the highly acclaimed NIPMR model. A delegation of senior officials from the Delhi Education Department recently visited the renowned NIPMR facility to explore the potential for replicating it in institutions under Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi(GNCTD).

An eleven member team of high level officials of GNCTD led by Joint Director Ramachandra Shingare, visited the state of art projects and facilities created at NIPMR to provide comprehensive rehabilitation service to person with disabilities belonged to all age groups. The facilities like Sensory Garden, Sensory Park, Virtual Reality Unit, and Sports Rehabilitation Unit etc were attracted by them the most.These initiatives have revolutionized the field of rehabilitation and set new standards for care and support of person with disabilities.

The team members were appreciative of the facilities and services of NIPMR the sought the support of NIPMR in planning and implementing similar facilities in Delhi.To materialise this noble objective they suggested a formal collaborative arrangement between the Delhi Education Department and the Social Welfare Department and NIPMR. The delegation had a detailed discussion on various aspects in establishing similar facilities in Delhi with key personnel at NIPMR, including the Executive Director in Charge, C. Chandrababu, physiatrist Dr. Neena, and Academic Special Officer Dr. Vijayalakshmi Amma. The experts at NIPMR gave comprehensive insights into the functioning of NIPMR and about its growth and Development from a private trust to an institution of national importance.
