Thiruvananthapuram | Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan on Wednesday said that the Crime Branch will probe allegations of irregularities in conduct of examinations by the PSC for various government posts and services in the state.

Satheesan said that the decision was taken in a Cabinet meeting chaired by him.

He said that the Crime Branch will investigate the various complaints received with regard to alleged irregularities in preparation of question papers, awarding of marks, conduct of interviews and appointments by the Public Service Commission (PSC) of the state.

He said that there were complaints of irregularities in the conduct of the Kerala Administrative Service (KAS) examinations by the PSC.

"We are not questioning the working of the PSC or blaming it, but the allegations are serious and they need to be investigated," Satheesan said.

He also said that the Cabinet has decided to colour-code the progress of the projects to be undertaken by the various departments in the first 100 days of the government.

The CM said that the public and the media can see the colour-coded progress of the projects on an open portal and they can also keep track of it.

During his press conference, he also hit out at opposition leader Pinarayi Vijayan over his alleged remarks that the CM taking charge of various departments could lead to corruption.

"How can he make such statements? Do we take up charge of departments for corruption? He had charge of 29 departments when he was CM. Such statements from the opposition leader do not conform to the position he holds," Satheesan said.

He also questioned why Vijayan took charge of the Information Technology department when he was CM.

"Why did he keep charge of the IT Department? For whom? Whom was he trying to protect by doing that? Did he do that to gain some undue favours? I can say more on this, but I am stopping myself here," he said.

Satheesan also clarified that he took the Finance portfolio on the insistence of his party and other ministers and he kept charge of the Ports Department as ports was the dream project of the government and all of its coordination takes place in the CM's office.
