|Thiruvananthapuram | Kerala Minister V Sivankutty on Sunday said the ruling CPI(M)’s preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections are complete and the BJP would not be allowed to open its account in the state.
Speaking to reporters, the Nemom MLA said party workers are already active on the ground and the campaign will gather pace once candidates are announced.
“Our election preparations are complete and party workers are active on the ground. Candidates may be announced soon, after which the election campaign phase can begin,” he said.
The minister said the possible candidature of BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar from Nemom would not pose a challenge.
“BJP will not open the account. It is locked with double locks,” he said.
Sivankutty said that in Thiruvananthapuram district, the LDF had won 13 seats in the last Assembly elections and lost only Kovalam.
“This time, efforts have already begun to recapture the Kovalam seat. It will be a clean sweep in the district,” he said.
He also said the government has completed its work with the last cabinet meeting held on Saturday.
Sivankutty said the LDF has full confidence in the people following the development works carried out by the government over the past five years.
“There is no situation for people to think against the LDF after the works carried out by the government. We have realised all the promises announced in the election manifesto. There are no corruption allegations against any ministers,” he said.
The BJP had opened its account in the Kerala Assembly for the first time in 2016 when it won the Nemom constituency.
However, Sivankutty recaptured the seat for the LDF in the 2021 Assembly elections.
