Kannur (Kerala) | A court on Monday acquitted seven National Democratic Front activists in a case related to the alleged murder of a former CPI(M) worker in 2008.

Thalassery Additional Sessions Court Judge Philip Thomas acquitted the accused in the case pertaining to the death of former CPI(M) activist U K Salim at Hussanmotta on July 23, 2008.

According to the prosecution, Salim was attacked and killed following a clash over the removal of a CPI(M) poster.

However, last year, Salim's father raised doubts, alleging that his son may have been killed by CPI(M) activists, a claim he also submitted before the court, a police official said.

During the trial, the court examined 27 witnesses, 44 documents and 10 material objects.
