Kochi | Hours ahead of the CLP meeting on Thursday to choose the next CM of Kerala, senior leader V D Satheesan left for Thiruvananthapuram with his family, Ramesh Chennithala interacted warmly with reporters outside his residence, while K C Venugopal arrived at Rahul Gandhi's residence in New Delhi.

All three are the contenders for the post of chief minister of Kerala.

Visuals aired by TV channels showed Venugopal leave his official residence in New Delhi and then arrive at Rahul Gandhi's home several minutes later.

There were a large number of supporters outside Satheesan's home in Aluva here and they wished him the best of luck as he left for Thiruvananthapuram with his family.

Neither Satheesan nor Venugopal spoke to reporters while Chennithala, with a smile on his face, told the mediapersons gathered outside his home in the state capital that he missed them during the last few days and offered them tea.

The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting to elect its leader will be held at 1 pm at the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) headquarters.

The CLP meeting comes in the wake of discussions between Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge at the latter's residence in New Delhi on Wedneday.

The Congress-led UDF secured a more than two-thirds majority in the Kerala Assembly elections, but the party has been unable to decide its chief ministerial face due to lobbying by different camps and protests by workers at the ground level.
