Thiruvananthapuram | Chathannoor MLA B B Gopakumar will lead BJP legislators in the Kerala Assembly, party's state chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar said on Wednesday.
He, in a Facebook post, congratulated Gopakumar on taking the responsibility of the BJP's floor leader in the state Assembly.
Gopakumar was the BJP's nominee for the Assembly speaker election, but he lost as he could muster the support of only three MLAs of his party.
Gopakumar rose from being an ordinary party worker to his current position due to his years of hard work, dedication and public service, Chandrasekhar said.
"I wish him all the best as he leads our team in the Legislative Assembly, becomes the voice of the millions of Malayalis who voted for a change and takes forward the BJP/NDA's goals of #VikasitaKeralam," he said in his FB post.
For the first time, the BJP won three seats in the 2026 Kerala assembly polls.
