Thiruvananthapuram | BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Saturday welcomed the progress in the proposed Thiruvananthapuram Outer Ring Road project, saying it would pave the way for over 6,500 affected families to get long-pending compensation and significantly improve the state capital's infrastructure.
In a Facebook post, Chandrasekhar said he had assured people during the election campaign that he would take up issues related to the project with the Centre and work towards an early resolution.
He said sustained efforts made after the elections had helped move the project forward, bringing relief to families whose compensation had remained pending for years.
The BJP leader said the Outer Ring Road would provide a permanent solution to traffic congestion in Thiruvananthapuram while opening up new development opportunities linked to the Vizhinjam International Seaport.
According to him, the project would attract fresh investments, generate employment opportunities and contribute to the goal of a "developed Thiruvananthapuram".
Chandrasekhar thanked the Union government for its support in taking the project forward and described the development as an example of the BJP's "politics of performance", saying it reflected the party's commitment to translating promises into development.
