Thiruvananthapuram | A prominent Sangh outfit has alleged that an organised attempt is being made in certain quarters to undermine India's democratic system and cautioned against attempts to bypass legal mechanisms through mob rule.
A right-wing cultural think tank based in Thiruvananthapuram, the Bharatiya Vichara Kendram (BVK), said in a statement that the march to the Supreme Court on October 12, led by the Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi in the name of protest against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), was an unprecedented incident in the country's history.
BVK Director R Sanjayan, in the statement, questioned whether such tactics were being employed to secure favourable verdicts through mob pressure and said attempts to undermine the system by mobilising large crowds were highly undesirable.
The outfit also expressed concern over the opposition parties' announced plan to mobilise 10 lakh people in Delhi on November 1, saying it posed a serious law-and-order challenge and a threat to the normal lives of ordinary citizens.
Sanjayan said no force should be allowed to undermine India's freedom and democracy, which were the outcome of the sacrifices and dedication of patriots belonging to several generations.
