Kollam (Keralam) |Excise officials on Sunday seized 124 bottles of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL), totalling 62 litres, from a house in Oachira here for allegedly selling them at higher prices on the dry day, officials said.
Acting on a tip-off, the Excise team raided the house of Gopalakrishnan (49), a resident of Chandankulangara in Oachira, and seized the liquor.
Officials said he had stocked the liquor purchased from outlets and sold it at higher prices on dry days.
Several people had allegedly bought liquor from him at inflated prices on Sunday, they said.
In Keralam, the first day of every month is observed as a dry day, when liquor outlets and bars remain closed, and liquor sales are prohibited.
The Excise Department registered a case under the Abkari Act and arrested Gopalakrishnan.
He will be produced before the court as part of the remand procedure, officials said.
