Chișinău, Moldova | Dr. Sureshkumar Madhusudhanan, had the distinct honour of addressing the Moldova–India Business Forum in Chișinău, held in connection with the State Visit of the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, to Moldova and Romania.

Dr. Sureshkumar was part of the high-level Business Delegation accompanying the Hon’ble President during the visit, providing an important platform for strengthening bilateral economic and business relations between India and Moldova.

The high-level Business Forum witnessed the participation of H.E. Maia Sandu, President of the Republic of Moldova; H.E. Droupadi Murmu, President of India; Mr. Vasile Tofan, Prime Minister deaignate of the Republic of Moldova; Dr. Sibi George, Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India; and H.E. Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, Ambassador of India to Romania and Moldova, along with senior government officials, diplomats, industry leaders, investors and business representatives from both countries.

During the session on “Economic and Investment Perspectives: Moldova and India,” Dr. Sureshkumar delivered a special presentation on “Business Opportunities in India,” highlighting India’s emergence as one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies and the tremendous opportunities available for Moldovan businesses and investors.

He highlighted the potential for cooperation in sectors including agriculture and food processing, information technology and digital services, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, logistics, tourism and hospitality, infrastructure, education, skill development and workforce mobility.

Dr. Sureshkumar emphasised that India today should be viewed not only as one of the world’s largest consumer markets but also as a global platform for manufacturing, technology, innovation, entrepreneurship and skilled human capital. He encouraged Moldovan companies to explore partnerships with Indian enterprises, including joint ventures, sourcing arrangements, technology collaborations and investment opportunities.

At the same time, Dr. Sureshkumar highlighted the considerable opportunities that Moldova offers to Indian businesses and investors.

With its strategic location and growing integration with European markets, strong agricultural and food-processing capabilities, internationally recognised wine industry, expanding IT and digital services sector, skilled human resources and emerging investment ecosystem, Moldova presents significant possibilities for Indian enterprises seeking to establish partnerships and expand their presence in the wider European region.

He identified agriculture and food processing, IT and technology, manufacturing, renewable energy, logistics, tourism and hospitality, healthcare, education and skill development as promising areas for deeper India–Moldova cooperation.

He also emphasised the potential for joint ventures, technology transfer, co-investment, startup collaboration, academic exchanges, skill development, workforce cooperation and stronger B2B partnerships between companies and institutions from the two countries.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sureshkumar said: “India and Moldova have complementary strengths that can be transformed into meaningful and sustainable economic partnerships. India brings scale, technology, innovation and a vast pool of skilled talent, while Moldova offers strategic access to European markets and strong capabilities in agriculture, food processing, IT and other emerging sectors. Our focus should now be on converting these opportunities into concrete projects, investments and long-term partnerships that create value for both countries.”

He further observed that the State Visit of the Hon’ble President of India and the participation of senior leadership from both nations provide fresh momentum to India–Moldova relations, creating an important opportunity to deepen cooperation beyond traditional trade into investment, technology, innovation, skills and people-to-people engagement.

The Business Forum was followed by B2B meetings and networking sessions, providing Indian and Moldovan companies with opportunities to establish direct connections, identify potential partners and explore practical avenues for commercial and investment cooperation.

Dr. Sureshkumar expressed his sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble President of India, the Government of India, Ministry of External Affairs, FICCI, the Government of the Republic of Moldova, Invest Moldova Agency, the Embassy of India, and all participating organisations for providing this prestigious opportunity to represent the Indian business community and contribute towards strengthening India–Moldova economic relations.

Dr. Sureshkumar Madhusudhanan, Chairman & Managing Director of Seagull International Group, Secretary General of the Indo Gulf & Middle East Chamber of Commerce (INMECC), and Member of the BRICS Business Council for Skills, Innovation & Technology, reaffirmed his commitment to continue building stronger bridges between India, Moldova and the wider European region.
